Some Faces of the Animals That Need Your Help
From Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi

Lucky Gumbo is a 3-year-old beagle who was surrendered to a shelter when her owners evacuated. She is heartworm positive and getting ready to be treated by MAAN.

She is currently living the good life in a Royal Oak foster home, smelling the flowers and grass in her new northern home.

In spite of what she has endured, Lucky is sweet and gentle and loving. Once seen through her treatment, she will be spayed and placed in a new permanent home.

Hurricane Katie adequately describes this friendly, spirited little girl.
She too was surrendered when her owners evacuated. She is also heartworm positive and ready to undergo treatment. Katie too has had a rough life but is now living it up in her St. Clair Shores foster home.

Like Luck Gumbo, Hurricane Katie was used for breeding purposes. But, her breeding days are over. Once treated for the heartworm disease, she will be spayed and placed in a new permanent home.

The MAAN team of volunteers takes a much-needed break from its animal rescue efforts on the streets of New Orleans.	MAAN volunteers empty large bags of dog food for roving packs of dogs and cats that were unapproachable. Bowls and buckets of fresh water were also left.

Matt Schaecher and Brian Bode. We met Brian and his dog at a gas station in Louisiana. When Brian was told to evacuate his flooded home, they wouldn't let him take his dog. He refused to evacuate and proceeded to walk 10 miles carrying the dog through flood waters until they reached safety. Brian lost his home and belongings but was grateful and thankful that he still had his little dog!	Team 1 stopped at a gas station in Alabama where there was a sign being posted "Dog needing good home". Upon talking to the owner of the gas station we found out their home had been destroyed and they had to leave the dog in the backyard. We immediately went to rescue "Bear" and brought him back to Michigan with us. This big "Teddy Bear" is available for adoption at the Michigan Animal Rescue League in Pontiac: 248-335-9290

Team One, getting ready to leave from the Michigan Animal Rescue League in Pontiac Michigan. As you can see, the parking lot was filled with donated supplies!	The ARFanage in Mobile, Alabama which has also been working extremely hard to rescue animals from the Gulf Coast.
